Around 25,000 residences in Queensland's southeast woke up without power on Monday morning after powerful weather events swept through the state, generating wind gusts hitting 109km/h.

Locals observed giant hailstones reaching sizes of 7 centimeters in some areas. Meteorological experts announced that multiple regions across the state had been hit with significant hail.

Utility workers were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams working to handle the numerous electricity disruptions.

At the same time, around one thousand energy customers in the southern state also faced power outages after the capital city saw its most precipitation in over 500 days.

State Emergency Services received over five hundred requests for assistance across the area, mainly for structural issues but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

• Wyndham region - 179 calls for assistance

At the height on Sunday, over twenty-eight thousand energy customers in the state were without power.

Weather Forecast

Moist weather were expected to linger along large portions of eastern Queensland this next several days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.

Tuesday was expected to become the wettest day, with ongoing thunderstorm potential anticipated across different parts of both regions.

Health Warning

Medical authorities cautioned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.

This caution comes after historical occurrences where similar conditions led to significant health impacts in the area.
